The article introduces generally about the origin and development process of Hizen porcelain (Japan) in late sixteenth century. According to historical records, during this period, the style of pattern design of Jingdezhen reputable porcelain of China has become the modal for porcelain products in Japan. Aside from learning techniques of porcelain manipulation from China and Korea, the Japanese themselves developped their ceramic industry independently. To meet domestic demand and ability to export, porcelain industry in Japan strongly developped, with a lot of kilns built in the town of Arita and other provinces in Hizen region (Saga Province, Kyushu). During the seventeenth century, Japanese porcelain was strongly exported to the European market, mainly products of strange colors and shapes to decorate castles and palaces of wealthy aristocrat family. Nowadays, Hizen porcelain is considered one of rare and unique products to be loved for its luxurious appearance and subtle pattern which is rarely found in any kind of ceramics.
