When teaching physical technology, a picture is worth a thousand words, and the picture represents the object that needs to be understood. Regarding the internal combustion engine, complex drawings need to be simplified in order to improve teaching and learning. This article proposes redesigning diagrams and replacing complex drawings with those which are fairly simple and are illustrated with specific examples. This same need for simplification exists in many other technology subjects.
