This study was conducted on women residents of Can Tho province who were identified with abnormal vagino-cervical cytological examination from March 2011 to May 2011 by PCR genotyping in combination with crosssectional descriptive methodology. Results: there were 10 percent of women who have cervical epithelial cell abnormality, including one case of AGC, 35 cases of ASC, 43 cases of LSIL and 21 cases of HSIL. Among 1001 women who underwent HPV testing, there were 102 positive cases identified (10.2 percent). Among 100 women with epithelial cell abnormality, there were 58 HPV positive cases identified (58 percent). HPV incidence rate in ASC cases was 45.7 percent, in LSIL cases was 51.2 percent and in HSIL cases was 71.4 percent. There were almost from 70 percent to over 90 percent of the cases with epithelial cell abnormality were coincided with high risk HPV positivity. The more severe epithelial cell abnormality was found, the higher possibility of HPV positivity, mostly of types 16 and 18. These results were compared and discussed in association with related studies.
