Objective: To compare a sensitivity, specificity and accuracy of ASB RealTime PCR detecting T1799A mutation assay with that of FNAC. Subject and method: A total of 45 thyroid nodules from patients were prospectively analyzed for their cytology. A final diagnosis was confirmed by histologic after thyroidectomy. brafT1799A mutation was analysed by ASB RealTime PCR. A sensitivity, specificity and accuracy of ASB RealTime PCR assay was determined base on the results of histopathology. Result A sensitivity, specificity and accuracy of ASB RealTime PCR assay was 92.3 percent
83.3 percent and 91.1 percent compare with that of 90.5 percent
33.3 percent and 88.8 percent which was determined by FNAC. Conclusion: brafT1799A mutation analysis when combine with FNAC can significantly improve FNAC diagnostic accuracy.
