Objective: Assessment of clinical characteristics of orthostatic hypotension and the relationship with several factors in the elderly hypertensive patients being treated in Department Senior Officers, Military Central Hospital 1 08. Subject and method: In a prospective, design and cross-section study, 249 patients were diagnosed hypertension are being treated in Department Senior Officers, Military Central Hospital 108, from May 2013 to May 2014. Result: The mean age was 63.1 +/- 8.3 years old
95.2 percent were male. The hypertensive duration was 6.8 +/- 4.9 years, in which more than 5 years were 69.9 percent. The mainly risk factors were smoking (75.1 percent), dislypidemia (71.9 percent) and obesity (28.5 percent). 88.4 percent of patients had multiple risk factors, almost of patients had two or three combined risk factors (71.9 percent). 99/249 patients (39.8 percent) had symptoms of orthostatic hypotension. The common clinical symptoms include dizziness (87.9 percent)
palpitation (80.8 percent)
nausea (58.6 percent)
chest pain (51.5 percent) and syncope (6.1 percent). Hypertensive duration more than 5 years

diabetes and calcium channel blockers drugs increased the risk of orthostatic hypotension from 2.9 to 4.9 times (with p 0.05 to 0.001). Conclusion: Orthostatic hypotension occurs frequently in hypertensive patients (39.8 percent). Clinical symptoms are dizziness, palpitation, nausea and syncope.
