Content Based Image Retrieval (CBIR) is an important research area for manipulating large multimedia databases and digital libraries. Applications Countourlet transform to CBIR system in order to increasing retrieval efficiency and reducing computational complexity is proposed in this paper. Unique properties of CT like directionality and anisotropy made it a powerful tool for feature extraction of images in the database. The distance measures like Manhattan distance and Euclidean distance are used as similarity measures in the proposed CBIR system.
