Biological control of bacterial foot rot of rice caused by Erwinia chrysanthemi was carried out at the department of Plant protection, Can Tho University. Three Bacillus strains, named 857, 854 and 8128.2, had been strong and stable in vitro antagonistic ability. against three strains of E. chrysanthemi, e.g. EAG, ECD), and EBT with bacterial suppressive radius being 8.14mm, 7.57mm and 7.52 mm, respectively, extending up to 7 days after testing were selected for bio-control of bacterial foot rot of rice. In the net-house conditions, two strains named Bacillus 854 and 8128.2 had provided a higher effectiveness, and 857 was equivalent to Starner 20WP in control of foot rot disease of rice. Bacillus strains 854 or 128.2, when applied two sprays (one prior and plus one after inoculation), has effectively reduced disease incidence, that being 37.87 percent and 38.01 percent, respectively, meanwhile that of untreated control being 72.69 percent.
