The study is to assess the physical activity among hypertensive patients at Truongyen commune, Chuongmy district, Hanoi, 2013. This is a descriptive cross-sectional study on 206 patients with hypertension. The average age is 68 +/- 1.13
The level of vigorous physical activity, average physical activity and inactivity were 33 percent, 27.2 percent and 39.8 percent respectively. Women practice walking is more than men. 59.5 percent female and 40.5 percent male did not use bicycle in a typical week. The average physical activity rate in women was higher than those in men (60.0 percent female and 40.0 percent male with active time from 1 - 3 days and 53.7 percent female and 46.3 percent male with active time from 4 - 7 days). In leisure time, 53.5 percent participants had sports activities. Women had more time to sit/lie than men (52.7 percent and 62.5 percent compared with 47.3 percent and 37.5 percent with active time from 4 - 7h and 1 - 3h a week). The results showed the status of physical activity of hypertensive patients at Truongyen commune, Chuongmy district, Hanoi, thereby creating the basis for communication and education on physical activities in hypertensive patients treated at Community Health Centre.
