So far the distinction between the classifiers and measure words has partly been resolved. Myths and debates surrounding the term 'classifier' during the past few decades show the complexity of the issue. In light of the Lexical Functional Grammar (LFG) and Typology, the results of recent studies have helped clarify the universals of the classifier languages, typically of modern Chinese. For word classes distributed between numerals and nouns are labeled as 'measure words' appear in most of the languages of the world. Classifiers (numeral classifiers) are available only in some languages called as classifier languages (Vietnamese among others). The research findings ensure the 'classifier' availability in both Chinese and Vietnamese, the isolating languages
they are useful for further investigation for the nature of this class of words.
