Algae are mostly natural food for Artemia cultured in the earthen ponds. However, species composition of algae in the earthen pond was fairly diversified therefore the domination algal species will affect on the productivity and quality of Artemia franciscana in comparison with less domination algal species. The study on effect of domination algal species was carried out with four treatments including of Chaetoceros sp., Chlorella sp., Nannochlo, ropsis sp. and mixed algae collected from nature ponds (as control). The results showed that domination algal species had a significant effect on the productivity and quality of Artemia biomass (p0.05). The treatment with domination Chaetoceros sp. displayed the best in productivity (3.68 +/- 0.18 tons/ha/12 weeks) and quality of biomass (protein 62.11 +/- 0.41 percent DW, EPA 9.86 +/- 0.03 mg/gDW, DHA 0.94 +/- 0.07 mg/gDW) in comparison to the others. The control treatment was the worst. The results showed that Chaetoceros sp. displayed as a suitable food for Artemia franciscana in the earthen pond.
