Objective: Evaluation the efficacy of topical diprosalic oitment on treatment of lichen planus. Material and method: 32 patients with lichen planus were treated by topical diprosalic ointment in twice a day. The results were evaluated basing on the itching, appearing new lesions and the reducing thickness of lesion measured by ultrasound machine ACUSON after 2.4 and 8 weeks treatment. Results: After 8 weeks of the treatment, all patients has no itching, two patients still had new lesions. The thickness of the lesions before treatment was 2.8 +/- 0.8 mm, 2 times thicker than that of normal skin nearby. After 8 weeks of the treatment, the thickness of the lesion was 1.52 +/- 0.4 mm, comparative with the normal skin. In general, the complete remission was achieved in 78.1 percent of the patients, moderate remission in 12.5 percent
6.3 percent in partial remission and poor in 3.1 percent of the patients. There were 4 patients (12.5 percent) suffered from cutaneous atrophy, 12.5 percent with hyper-pigmentation, 9.4 percent with skin irritant and 6.3 percent with telangiectasia. Conclusions: Topical diprosalic oitment achieved good result after 8 weeks of the treatment. Some side effects such as cutaneous atrophy, hyper-pigmentation, telangiectansia... could be noted during the treatment.
