This study aimed to evaluate the impact of flipped learning on nursing students' patient safety competencies and their satisfaction with the training method. A total of 69 nursing students during the fall semester of the 2023-2024 academic year participated in this randomized controlled trial. The intervention group received a training program based on flipped learning for a period of 6 weeks, while the control group received training based on traditional learning methods. Data were collected using the Patient Safety Competency Self-Evaluation tool, and the Satisfaction Questionnaire. Following the implementation training program based on flipped learning, the intervention group exhibited a statistically significant improvement in their patient safety scores. Additionally, the students in the intervention group demonstrated a higher level of satisfaction. The findings indicated that patient safety training based on flipped learning enhanced nursing students' patient safety competencies and satisfaction with the training method. Flipped learning should be incorporated into the nursing curriculum, and nurse educators may be informed of the potential of the model in increasing the patient safety competencies of nursing students. Trial Registration: NCT05981456.
