Macrophages are highly adaptable immune cells capable of responding dynamically to diverse environmental cues. This review delves into the complex biology of macrophages, highlighting their polarization states, roles in autoimmune and inflammatory diseases, involvement in cancer progression, and potential as therapeutic targets.
