Hidradenitis suppurativa (HS) is a chronic inflammatory disorder with a heterogeneous phenotype. HS is a recurrent, fluctuating disease with various natural histories. Its phenotypes have been associated with responses to therapy
however, more studies about treatment response are needed, as is evaluation of biomarkers, before conclusions can be reached. This article provides a scoping review of HS phenotypes reported in the literature, with the hope that the results may offer insights for a more individualized approach to treatment.
